The library invites children ages birth through 8th grade to participate in this annual six-week reading club. This reading club is a read-on-your-own program. Children read books, magazines, or listen to audiobooks for prizes! Registration begins Saturday, June 5 through July 25. The final day to receive prizes is July 31. Register in person at the Youth Services Reference Desk. Club members who finish the program will be invited to the annual Ice Cream Social on Saturday, August 7 and be eligible to participate in a grand prize drawing. ALA is now hosting Explore the Universe @ your library, a contest that gives kids in grades kindergarten through 12 the opportunity to win telescopes, tickets to the newest IMAX movie Hubble 3D, and other prizes. To enter, kids answer a series of trivia questions about the Hubble Space Telescope. All kids who answer the questions correctly will be entered in a drawing to win one of seven prize packages. The contest will run through April 30.

The Round Lake Area Library is proud to introduce the TumbleBooks Database, a source for audiobooks and fun! TumbleBookLibrary is an online collection of animated, talking picture books which teach young children the joys of reading in a format they’ll love. Text is highlighted while being narrated so students can folow along, often in different languages. Games and activities are also part of the e-reading fun. You can access this database here.
