English as a Second Language & Literacy
Families Learning Together
The library partners with the College of Lake County and ChildServ of Waukegan to provide a no cost family literacy program at the library that allows parents and children 5 and younger to practice speaking and reading English together. This free program lets you and your family have fun together while playing games, making crafts, using computers, discovering the library and more. Parents attend English classes, while their children learn and develop pre-literacy skills through structured childcare activities. For more information, call (847) 543-2591. Funded by an Illinois State Library grant, United Way grant and Federal grant issued to the College of Lake County.
